(Disciples of Christ)

First Christian Church of Downers Grove

First Christian Church is a community of believers honoring our differences but joined together in the belief in God’s grace and love through his son Jesus Christ.

Our worship is a praise of God through scripture, music, a message and prayer.  We celebrate communion with an open table each Sunday, welcoming God’s spirit and grace.

We offer Sunday school for adults Sunday mornings (except in the summer months) and children during worship.  We also offer Wednesday night studies (except in the summer) with a light supper.  These are typically video series where we explore Christ’s life and message as well as what it means to Christian life today.  We believe in individual study and interpretation of scriptures as we move together on our journeys toward a full relationship with God.

We are a mission-oriented church with missions such as PADs, a Belarus orphanage and a back to school fair for underprivileged families.  We are often open to new missions driven by the passions of our members.

Stop by Sunday or Wednesday to join us in our faithful journeys.

We are affiliated with the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). Learn more about this movement at www.disciples.org

First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) of Downers Grove is a community of faith on a journey to joyfully witness to God’s love and grace revealed by Christ through:

  • Meaningful worship

  • Discovering and affirming each of our unique gifts, and

  • Growing in our ability to reach out in love and service to each other and to our community.

Following Christ, we welcome all to communion, fellowship and service in his name regardless of race, gender, age, sexual orientation, gender identity, ethnicity, marital status, physical or mental ability or theological perspective.
